Interior Design trends for 2016

interior design trends 2016

We like to keep our fingers on the pulse of home-ware and soft furnishing fashion trends here at Linens Limited; interior design and personal tastes change with the seasons, and as your home or family grows it’s important to keep a fresh style that’s special to you.

We’ve scoured the web and interior design world to find the best trends set to hit your home in 2016. They may not completely be your taste, but we hope they offer you some inspiration or ideas for your next spring clean or home furnishing purchase.

Metallic Medley

Following on from last year’s trend of copper and gold, the rise of soft metallic tones is being seen in homes across the UK. Weathered, warm colours such as silver and rose gold add a glamorous, vintage flare to home-ware such as vases and candle holders.

These timeless colour choices can add sparkle to any room of the home, from kitchen worktops to sofa scatter cushions, you can add instant year-round charm.

70’s interior design inspiration

Vintage inspired design has been at the forefront of clothing and interior fashion for many years, and the 70’s are no exception. With simple lines, bright colours and elegant finishes the 70’s inspired living room is sure to be a popular choice in 2016.

Velvet chair covers, couches and cushions are becoming increasingly popular as they add a touch of glamour to any home setting. For those that aren’t sure about committing to such a loud statement – consider a flamboyant poster or table cloth for instant disco flare.

Keep Upcycling

In keeping with the vintage trends; upcycling has remained one of the most popular forms of the vintage revival over the last few years. Instead of spending time searching antique shops or unique furniture stores, you can make and re-paint your home furnishings for half the cost.

Now this may sound daunting, but upcycling is merely a way of re-purposing old objects around the house into a new, useful feature. From old book shelves, drum kits or even soup cans – research their many alternate uses and you’ll be surprised at the possibilities.

Guatemalan and Jungle prints

Animal prints are an old favourite; dating back all the way to the 50’s and then 80’s – leopard print curtains and duvet covers were all the rage for generations. However, fashion tastes are evolving and we’re now seeing more brightly coloured flora and fauna with jungle and Latin American themes, taking inspiration from countries such as Guatemala and Brazil in bright purples and oranges.
