We’re celebrating National Picnic Month in July and enjoying the warm weather while it lasts! Now is the perfect time to meet with family and friends in a park – or invite 6 of your friends over – and throw a picnic party.
With everyone savouring outdoor spaces and enjoying their local areas, we’ve put together a few of our favourite picnic items and inspiration to help you to throw a great picnic.
Set the scene
If you are picnicking at home in this gorgeous warm weather, bring out your soft furnishings and lay them out in your garden to create a stunning outdoor-indoor look. Layer up a light rug with plenty of cushions and throws for lounging in style into the evening. Go all-out and make a low table out of pallets, creating an outdoor dinner party style.
We love this classic gingham tablecloth and napkins for a simple picnic style.

Recipes and food
Don’t forget to pack the picnic! Your picnic can be as simple as a meal deal in the park, or it can be extravagant and offer quiches, tarts and picking sandwiches. Whatever you fancy preparing, BBC Good Food has plenty of inspirational recipes that are easy to create or you could ask attendees to bring a main or dessert and have everyone contribute to a smorgasbord.
We love this easy no-cook picnic guide from Wit and Delight, which you can read here.
