5 ways to make your family bathroom work for you

The family bathroom is one of the most used and abused rooms in your home. From towels strewn all over the floor to fingerprints on mirrors and dried toothpaste all over the sink; it’s a daily struggle to ensure your once beautiful bathroom is clean, stylish and most importantly – practical.

Many of us do not realise that the bathroom is also a place for discovery; from learning how to wash their little hands properly to brushing their teeth and general hygiene, you can make your bathroom a fun place to be in without compromising on the niceties.

5 top tips

1. Double up on basins

If you’ve got the room to fit in two sinks, we’d highly recommend it. Helping to ease the rush on those busy weekday mornings, the extra basin will mean that no-one is stretching over in front of each other or standing around waiting. To add a modern twist finish off your double sink with a super stylish rectangular mirror that stretches across both basins.

To avoid mess try a clear liquid soap dispenser filled with a colourful scented soap – it will make washing hands a little more exciting.

2. Colourful towels

Brightly coloured towels make an excellent addition to the family bathroom for two reasons; colour and ownership. Most bathrooms are white, which whilst clean, is a little boring; introduce some colourful towels into the mix and you can totally transform your bathroom.

Make everyone pick their favourite colour and then buy a towel bale set for each person. This way everyone knows which towel is theirs to avoid unnecessary arguments in the morning. Why not add a hook for each person to hang their towel on; keeping them off the floor, and ready for their next time of use.

3. Bath time fun

If you’ve got young children, there are loads of ways to add some fun into their bathroom routine. Introduce some waterproof toys such as rubber ducks to keep the little ones occupied during bathtime. For the older kids, why not try a fun duck print shower curtain or bath mat.

4. Bathroom storage

One of the best ways to keep your bathroom tidy is with storage baskets and tidies. If you’ve got shelves or drawers, why not allocate 1 per person. Keep toothbrushes and toiletries tidy in a countertop organiser.

5. Keep a laundry basket

Whilst many of us have a laundry basket in our bedrooms, put one in the bathroom to keep dirty laundry and towels off the floor. Make space in a corner and then no one will have an excuse for not clearing up after themselves.
