Success can come in many forms; from material possessions, money in the bank or family triumphs – everyone measures it differently. Here at Linens Limited we want every day to be a success, mentally and physically. Staying in a healthy morning routine is important if you want to maintain a good attitude and successful career or family life, so how do you go about starting the day in the right way?

We’ve listed 10 of the most important keys to success in a morning routine – we hope you give them a go and let us know how successful you become.

1) Get up an hour earlier

Getting up early isn’t always easy – especially when it should be an hour earlier than you normally would. However, research has shown that early risers are more optimistic and conscientious – they are also able to anticipate problems and manage them more effectively.

2) Silence

Waking up early gives you a chance to relax before work, you can sit with your thoughts and enjoy a cup of green tea. Just listen to the birds chirping or watch the beautiful sunrise – all proven to aid well-being.

3) Go to bed early

Getting the right amount of sleep is important – too much or too little sleep will affect your mind and your body more than you realise, and too often we are tempted to stay up past our bed time to enjoy the next episode of Downtown Abbey. Make sure you get to bed and have at least 6/7 hours sleep – the more rested you are, the better your day will be

4) Stay tidy

A cluttered room is a cluttered mind, so make sure your life doesn’t fall into this category. Don’t be afraid to throw away old magazines, receipts or even emails on your phone – de-cluttering areas in your life will ensure it isn’t filled with unnecessary junk, hindering your success.

5) Snacking is great

Ditch the diet, put down the lettuce leaf! Your mind and body needs sustainable food sources to stay active and healthy – be sure to pack yourself low sugar, high protein or carb filled snacks to keep your metabolism going and your brain working at the capacity it needs all day.

6) Have a workout

Morning workouts are proven to be the most successful form of exercise – studies have shown that you are less likely to come up with excuses in the morning too, so it’s the perfect time to get the trainers on and give yourself a 15 minute jog and shower to get the blood pumping and the energy flowing.

7) Create a mantra

Even you are not spiritual or religious; a mantra is a good way to remind yourself what you want from life and keep you determined to achieve it. Create your own mantra that illustrates your goals this year – repeat this to yourself every morning with concentrated breathing to embed it in to the day’s positive attitude and your mind’s eye.

8) Stay organised for the day

Make a to-do list each day for unfinished or new tasks that need to be completed. Place the most daunting task at the top, and get it done. It may seem scary but the agony and stress will be lifted once you tackle it, and all other tasks throughout the day will seem easy in comparison.

9) Visualisation

Take the time to think creatively about your day – imagine the successes and the failures, and how you want to achieve them. Research has shown that even two minutes of positive day dreaming and planning can improve your mood and mental clarity.

10) Eat breakfast

Again, this is about ditching the diet. Too many people think that eating less, equates to less weight, but it’s the opposite. Missing breakfast leads to low sugar levels, low concentration, low metabolism and overall low enthusiasm throughout the day. By skipping this vital meal you will end up eating more, not concentrating and feeling more and more sluggish as the day goes on.
